On the road by 6:30, headed into storm clouds. 2 hours to Rockford. Found the fields alright. Attendants directing parking traffic across the grass leading up to a high bank of trees and the Fox River. Hundreds of cars. All those people dedicating their weekends to watching their sons play soccer. The girls' teams played elsewhere. Rained through the first game. We huddled under car blankets in our hot weather clothes. Sunny for the second game. Third game canceled due to lightening followed by torrential rain. Dinner at the hotel with the team. Afterwards, Michie and I lifeguarded at the pool while the other parents discussed team business.
