We set off on a walk this morning. The snow is pretty much gone. The sun bright. We went out in sweatshirts and hats. Warm and bright. The lake is very low. Down to the lily ring with a broad mud flat outside that. All but Watt, Mom, Julia and I ventured across the flat to the water's edge. On their way back to dry land, Cody stepped in a soft spot and sunk to his thighs. Gus ran to the rescue, got within 5 feet and sunk to his knees. "Mud in my socks!" Cody cried. Pop rescued Cody. Jake rescued Gus. Sloshy and wet socked.
