Telling: Streams & Logs

days

companionable heat

The sun rides my elbows as I cross the parking lot, stops at the door and promises to wait.

Inside the light is all one color and all the smells wrapped up tight. I walk the aisles like a labrynth prayer. Everything is where I know it will be. I gather to myself: bread, onion, herbs and cheese. Everything I need in two green bags. Someday perhaps I will emerge empty handed and completely satisfied.

The sun is so happy to see me when I step back out, it jumps right up and licks my face.
